Nigeria continues to face significant child welfare and educational challenges affecting millions of vulnerable children. According to UNICEF, Nigeria has one of the highest numbers of out-of-school children globally, with millions lacking access to quality education, adequate healthcare, protection, and social support systems. Poverty, unemployment, family instability, abuse, neglect, and economic hardship continue to increase the vulnerability of children across many communities.

In Ondo State, particularly within Akure and surrounding communities, many underprivileged children struggle with school dropout, lack of educational materials, poor healthcare access, emotional trauma, psychological distress, and exposure to unsafe environments. Many caregivers and low-income families also lack the financial stability needed to adequately support children under their care.

Despite the growing needs of vulnerable children and families, access to structured child-centered support systems, psychological support services, mentorship programs, vocational guidance, and long-term welfare interventions remains limited across many communities.

Reports from international organizations such as UNICEF and UNESCO continue to highlight the urgent need for increased community-based interventions, educational support, child protection systems, and youth empowerment initiatives across Nigeria. Without timely intervention, many vulnerable children remain at risk of poverty, exploitation, social exclusion, illiteracy, and reduced future opportunities.

Davdebby Foundation was established in response to these growing challenges to provide compassionate care, educational support, psychological support, mentorship, empowerment programs, and sustainable community interventions that help vulnerable children and families build safer and brighter futures.

• ✓ Supported over 50 children through our Back-to-School Project with school fees, educational materials, uniforms, bags, books, and learning supplies.
• ✓ Reached and impacted over 30,000 families through outreach programs, welfare interventions, advocacy efforts, and humanitarian support initiatives.
• ✓ Conducted community-based awareness and support activities focused on child welfare and family empowerment.
• ✓ Supported over 30 children at a correctional center through counseling, mentorship, hygiene materials, and toiletries that promoted emotional well-being and personal care.
• ✓ Provided educational support and mentorship opportunities for vulnerable children and teenagers.
• ✓ Supported low-income families through welfare assistance, food distribution, and empowerment initiatives.
